IELTS

What Is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

Your English language Listening, Reading and Writing skills will be tested on the same day. There is no break between these tests – you will take them one after the other. Your Speaking assessment will be held separately, either on the same day or up to seven days before or after your Listening, Reading and Writing tests. This depends on your test centre.

IELTS is available in: Academic - for people applying for higher education or professional registration, and General Training for those migrating to Australia, Canada and the UK and work in an English-speaking environment.
