Programmes for International Examinations

LHE provides examination preparation for the following international examinations: Cambridge English Examinations (CAE), First Certificate in English (FCE), Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) and Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) English Exam.

C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge Advanced English)

Cambridge Advanced is accepted for study purposes when applying to a foreign university. Multinational companies and organisations usually select job candidates who can prove their advanced English level with a Cambridge certificate.

Predominantly, universities from the following countries accept Cambridge English advanced for successful application of English-taught degrees: English Master’s degree in the UK, Canada, Ireland and Australia.

B2 First (formerly known as First Certificate in English or FCE)

B2 First is the most in-depth and focused exam available at Level B2 of the CEFR and can be used to apply for foundation and higher education courses taught in English around the world. The B2 First is recognised as proof of English language proficiency by thousands of universities and pathway providers.

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)

In the UK, any approved Higher Education Institution (HEI) can use PTE Academic to access a student’s level of English as part of a Tier 4 application (studying at degree level and above). Provided the applicant achieves B2 level English, PTE Academic can be used as part of a visa application. Therefore, a student who has achieved minimum PTE Academic 51 and applied to a university that accepts PTE Academic, can receive a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), which enables them to apply for a Tier 4 (degree level and above) visa.

Cambridge IGCSE English (Second Language)

This qualification is recognised by academic institutions and employers around the world. Many students who have finished the IGCSE English (2nd language) can move on to further academic study, including progression to A Level and BTEC Level 3 study, Cambridge Pre-U, IB Diploma Programme and other equivalents. It also allows for further vocational education and is often considered the baseline for employment. An IGCSE English (Second Language) qualified student is widely accepted in top study destinations, for example the USA, UK and Australia, as well as many other parts of the world.
